Access to Punta de Teno by motorcycle

Access to Punta de Teno may be restricted depending on the season, time of day, and road conditions. Therefore, before planning your entire route, it is advisable to check the latest information from the Tenerife Island Council or the Buenavista del Norte City Council.

If it is not possible to reach Punta de Teno by motorcycle at the scheduled time, the route is still highly recommended, passing through Buenavista del Norte, Teno Alto, Masca, and Los Gigantes.

Motorcycle Tour of Teno: What to Expect

The motorcycle route through Teno combines some of Tenerife’s most diverse landscapes: coastline, mountains, rural villages, ravines, and scenic roads. It is highly recommended for motorcyclists looking for a varied riding experience with plenty of points of interest.

Unlike other more direct routes, this one requires careful driving due to its narrow roads, sharp curves, changes in gradient, and sections with heavy tourist traffic, especially in areas such as Masca or Los Gigantes.

This is an ideal route for those who enjoy driving at a leisurely pace, making stops along the way, and taking in the scenery.

Recommended motorcycle tour of Teno

The tour can start in Puerto de la Cruz, heading west across the northern part of Tenerife.

The first part of the route may take you to Buenavista del Norte and, if access is permitted, all the way to Punta de Teno, one of the most special spots in northwestern Tenerife thanks to its ocean views, lighthouse, and natural surroundings.

From the Buenavista area, the route can continue on to Teno Alto and Masca, two places that are very representative of Tenerife’s rural and mountainous landscape. From there, the route can proceed to Los Gigantes, known for its breathtaking cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

To return to Puerto de la Cruz, one interesting option is to pass through Santiago del Teide, the Erjos Pass, and the Chinyero area, thus completing a very scenic loop route.

Buenavista del Norte and Punta de Teno

Buenavista del Norte is one of the highlights of this route. Its rural setting, proximity to the sea, and access to Punta de Teno make it a highly recommended stop.

Punta de Teno is one of the most special places in northwestern Tenerife. Its lighthouse, ocean views, and the Los Gigantes cliffs in the background make it a very attractive stop, provided access is permitted at the time of your visit.

Teno Alto and Masca

Teno Alto and Masca offer one of the most challenging sections of the route. The road features a mix of curves, changes in elevation, narrow stretches, and the mountain scenery so characteristic of western Tenerife.

Masca is one of the island's best-known villages thanks to its location among ravines and mountains. Traveling to this area by motorcycle is highly recommended, although you should drive carefully due to the narrow road and the presence of tourist traffic.

The Giants

Los Gigantes is one of the most recognizable landmarks in western Tenerife. Its cliffs, which rise high above the sea, offer one of the most breathtaking views on the island.

It's a great place to stop, relax, have a drink, and enjoy the views before heading back north on Tenerife.
